Do I need sailing experience to rent a Hobie Getaway?
No formal sailing certification is required, and guests with no prior sailing experience may be approved to rent the Getaway. Your group receives the applicable dock orientation. Final release depends on current conditions, demonstrated readiness and dock-staff judgment.
How many people fit on the Hobie Getaway?
The MBSC Hobie Getaway carries up to six guests. Follow the seating, loading and life-jacket directions provided at check-in.
What is the difference between the Getaway and Hobie Wave?

Is this a captained catamaran charter?
No. This is a self-operated Hobie Getaway rental. You sail the boat after check-in, safety information and dock orientation. It is a small sport catamaran experience, not a large party yacht or captained charter.
What is included with the rental?
The boat, required life jackets, standard safety information and approximately 15 minutes of dock orientation are normally included. Follow the equipment and life-jacket directions provided by staff.
How early should we arrive?
Plan to arrive about 30 minutes before the selected reservation time. Bring a government-issued photo ID and credit card, allow time for parking, and complete the waiver and check-in process before the rental begins.
Where can we sail?
The Getaway must remain inside Mission Bay and within the operating boundaries given by staff. Rentals may not enter the ocean, jetty or inlet, cross into swimming zones, anchor or tow. Confirm the day’s boundaries during orientation.
What happens if wind or weather affects the rental?
Dock staff may delay or refuse a launch when conditions are not suitable. If Mission Bay Sportcenter cancels because of weather, the current credit or cancellation policy applies. Check live policy details in checkout or call the team with a time-sensitive question.
Where do I see the current price?
Use the live booking calendar for current durations, pricing, availability and applicable fees. A 10% concession fee applies to the equipment-rental subtotal, and no fuel fee applies to this sailboat rental.
