A stand up paddleboard (SUP) is a great option for people of all ages and experience levels. It requires no previous experience, and is a great way to get out on the water. Our boards are very stable, making it easy to get the hang of paddleboarding no matter what your experience level. And our staff is always happy to offer any pointers that might shorten up the learning curve. But even the best paddleboarders often take a swim, so expect to get wet, and leave any valuables and electronics in one of our storage lockers for safe keeping while you’re out on the water. Afternoon breeze is common during the summer in Mission Bay, so if you’re planning on renting a SUP, the morning is usually your best bet.

Our stand up paddleboards are easy to use and stable, but if you’d rather opt for something that requires less balance, we recommend a kayak rental. Being lower to the water and in a seated position makes it easier to maintain balance, but just like with a SUP you can expect to get wet! So keep your electronics and valuables safely stored on land.

  • Your reservation start time will begin at the designated time that you chose. Please arrive 30 minutes early to complete Rental agreement and Safety and Boat checkouts. Due to high demand and time restraints please have your party here early and ready to begin your rental at the designated time.
  • Picture ID and credit card are required for all rentals.
  • Parking is always tight so please plan accordingly.

PADDLEBOARD RENTAL FAQ

Do we need to make a reservation?
No! We have almost 200 stand up paddleboards. Grab a friend and come on down!

Do I need to know how to paddleboard?
No, our staff would be happy to give you some instructions and pointers before sending you out.
Do I need a lifejacket?
While you are more than welcome to bring your own lifejacket, it is not necessary. We have lifejackets for all ages and sizes.
Where can we paddleboard?
You can paddle anywhere in Mission Bay but most of our customers stay right here in Sail Bay.
Can I take the paddleboard off premises?
Yes, however you are responsible for transporting the paddleboard.
What is your damage policy?
You are responsible for any and all damage to the equipment, or any damage occurring to other equipment caused by the use of the paddleboard during the rental period.
Will you deliver the paddleboard to me?
All paddleboards must be taken from our premises and returned to Mission Bay Sportcenter.
What if we get lost?
Before you go out in Mission Bay, we recommend taking a look out our map that is available at our dock. If you are lost, please call our office at 858 488 1004. If it is an emergency, please call 911.
